The Town of Schererville is looking to use funds provided under the Federal “Stimulus” program to work on three road projects, as well as make improvements to the Town’s Wastewater Plant.
In an article in this past Saturday’s edition of The Times, Town Council president Perry Ferrini indicated that the Town was able to access these federal funds because local planning and engineering was already completed and the projects were now before the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) for final approval.
The road projects, costing over $320,000, include the following: Kennedy Avenue, from Main Street to Junction Avenue; Lincolnwood, from US 30 to 77th Avenue; and 77th Avenue, from US 41 to Austin.
In addition, the Town hopes to make over $8 million in improvements to it’s Wastewater facility. These improvements would be funded by a $2.05 million grant and a approximately $6 million low-interest loan.
